TSX opened by Canopy Rivers president

The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) began trading on Tuesday on the signal of Canopy Rivers.

On September 24, Narbe Alexandrian, president and chief executive officer of Canopy Rivers Inc. joined Rob Peterman, vice president of global business development for the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange, for the market opening ceremony.

The Market Open Ceremonies are held to help provide an opportunity to generate exposure for listed companies and select organizations.

A representative from the visiting organization opens the market by placing their hand on the touch LCD screen to initiate the siren: the traditional sound of the market opening at the Toronto Stock Exchange.

RIV on the TSX

The market open invite follows Canopy Rivers’ entrance into trading on TSX on September 9 under the ticker symbol RIV.

After opening the TSX, Canopy Rivers closed at $2.27 a share.

“We are proud to join a class of issuers that includes many reputable domestic and international companies,” Alexandrian said. “We believe that graduating to the TSX will improve awareness about Canopy Rivers and enhance liquidity for our shareholders and other market participants.”

The milestone listing on the TSX was achieved within less than one year of Canopy Rivers’ initial go-public transaction. Formerly named AIM2 Ventures Inc., Canopy Rivers had previously began trading on the TSX Ventures Exchange in September of 2018.

Canopy Rivers is the venture capital arm of Canopy Growth. The company was created as a unique investment and operating platform structured to pursue investment opportunities in the global cannabis sector.

Canopy Rivers has developed an investment ecosystem of cannabis companies that represent various segments of the industry across the cannabis sector.

Its portfolio currently includes nearly 20 companies, including James E. Wagner Cultivation, Tweed Tree Lot, TerrAscend and the cannabis retailer YSS.
